New Albany third-grader grows ginormous cabbage

So, this kid, Carter Hall,  grew a 16.8 pound cabbage. That is not a misprint.  He was randomly selected by the  Mississippi Agriculture Department and will receive a $1,000 saving bond toward education from Bonnie Plants‘ Cabbage Program. Upholstered furniture manufacturer Newport Home Furnishings in New Albany is expanding its operations and adding 45 new jobs, the company announced today through the Mississippi Development Authority. Newport was founded in 2013 and builds stationary and motion sofas, loveseats, chairs, and recliners.
