Plans were recently submitted to the Development Services department for the city of Tupelo for the two hotels that will be part of the $50 million Pinnacle Point Development in Tupelo.
The two Hilton-brand hotels will be built at the same time, and will have a total of 179 rooms between them.
A Tru hotel will have 90 guest rooms, while a Home2Suites will have 89 rooms.
• The Tru brand of hotels is designed to have smaller, more efficient rooms. And according to Hilton, the hotel is “vibrant, affordable and young-at-heart. It’s energetic, yet relaxing and comfortable. It’s familiar, and it’s also unexpected.” The hotel has a large lobby, a 24/7 market with gourmet snacks and drinks plus single-serve beer and wine, a work space area and a game area that has table and board games and a giant media wall. And these plans show a pool table,
• The Home2Suites brand is designed as an extended-stay hotel, which offer large accommodations. According to Hilton, “all suites are complete with a living area that features a full-sized sleeper sofa. Nesting tables sit beside the sofa to rest your cold drink or to spread out all your stuff. The TV has Bluetooth capabilities and is on a flexible mount that allows you to watch from anywhere in the suite, so it’s easy to make this area your home base for relaxation.”
In addition, the suites have a Working Wall, “a functional and customizable space stretching the entire length of the room with extra shelving and drawer space for personal storage. It comes with a Humanscale ergonomic chair, table-with wheels, and task lighting.” Plans for the Tupelo hotel show an indoor pool, too.
Pinnacle Point is designed as a 28-acre development that will be anchored by an assisted living community on the back half of the property. In front of the development are plans for two small retail shopping centers, a pair of restaurants and the hotels.
All told, the project is valued at $50 million and could lead to hundreds of new jobs.
Last July, Steak ‘n Shake announced it would build on one of the designated restaurant spots facing North Gloster. The restaurant is scheduled to open this spring.
First-floor plans for the hotels are shown to give you some idea of what they’ll be like.
