The Tupelo Convention & Visitors Bureau has another award to add to the shelf.
The TCVB received recognition as an accredited destination marketing organization during the Destinations International Annual Convention in Anaheim, California earlier this month.
It was awarded the Destination Marketing Accreditation Program (DMAP) seal.
TCVB is just the third destination marketing organization in Mississippi to become an accredited organization through DMAP.
The award is acknowledgement of TCVB’s commitment to industry excellence and meeting the industry standard for performance and accountability of destination organizations around the world,
“We are pleased to have TCVB join our distinguished group of professionals,” said Don Welsh, President and CEO of Destinations International. “The industry distinction defines quality and performance standards for destination organizations and I look forward to welcoming them to the DMAP community.”
The accreditation program requires a destination organization to successfully comply with a multitude of mandatory and voluntary standards that span a variety of performance areas. The standards cover nearly all aspects related to the management and marketing of destination organizations including governance, finance, human resources, sales, communications, destination development, and research
“By achieving DMAP accreditation, these destination organizations have demonstrated that they have developed strategies for the direction of their destination and the policies and procedures to safeguard the use of public dollars,” said David Holder, CDME, DMAP Chair and Vice President, Tourism of JLL, Hospitality and Tourism Group.
“Going through DMAP helped us closely examine every single thing we do as an organization. Our entire staff played a role in the process of gathering information and assessing our compliance with the program’s rigorous industry standards,” said TCVB Executive Director Neal McCoy. “We are a better organization for having gone through this process.”
