Remember when both Bumpers locations in Tupelo closed in 2010 to undergo “renovations?”
As we know, the South Gloster Street location in 2012 became Fresh Market Cafe (which closed recently). But the West Main Street location was pretty much left alone, save for the awnings being taken down.
Well, it seems there may be something going into the location finally.
Plans filed with the city’s Development Services department show the 1,400-plus-square-foot building being renovated into American Wing and Deli (or maybe it’s American Wing Deli like it says on their menu).
Anyway, as you no doubt guessed, the restaurant will be serving chicken wings and other things. The other things include “phillysteaks” as they call them, chicken tenders, burgers, sub sandwiches, reubens, gyros, fried shrimp and fried fish (whiting and tilapia, no catfish).
And if the menu looks familiar, it may be because you’ve been to the American Deli location inside the food court at The Mall at Barnes Crossing that opened recently. Take a close look and you can see the American Deli logo on the American Wing Deli menu.
No word yet on how long the renovation will be done (I’m thinking it won’t take eight years) and when the restaurant will open yet.
