The future Teppanyaki Sun Japanese Grill at the food court at The Mall at Barnes Crossing.
A new restaurant is coming to the food court at The Mall at Barnes Crossing.
While there are few details for now, Teppanyaki Sun Japanese Grill is scheduled to open Nov. 21 in the former Cajun Grill space between Chick-Fil-A and Magic Wok.
The owners and operators of Teppanyaki Sun also own the Charley’s Philly Steaks location at the food court.
That leaves to empty spaces still at the food court – the space between Time Out and Sbarro, and the former Tutti Frutti.
An announcement of those replacements could happen soon.
***** But wait, there’s more news! ****
The mall’s owner, Rouse Properties, also is looking for someone to take over the Cinnabon and Auntie Anne’s kiosks near the food court behind the carousel. The locations closed last week
A company leasing agent said the former operator of both locations “vacated the units,” and Rouse was “looking for franchises to backfill the operation … if we’re unable to find a franchisee to take over the location, they will de-brand the kiosks and we will look for someone who is interested in starting a business there.”
Cinnabon opened at the mall in July 2016, while its sister business, Auntie Anne’s, opened in October of that year.
Cinnabon and Auntie Anne’s are owned by Focus Brands, which also has McAlister’s Deli, Moe’s Southwest Grill, Schlotsky’s Deli and Carvel ice cream. Atlanta-based Focus Brands is the franchisor and operator of more than 4,500 locations under those brands in the U.S., Puerto Rico and 60 countries .
