These are the electric reclining seats that have been added at other Cinemarks across the country
The Cinemark theater at The Mall at Barnes Crossing is about to get an all-new look.
In plans filed with the city, Cinemark has a two-phase project, staring in October that will bring in new seating, paint, carpet and aisle lighting.
And it’s not just any seating – they’re bringing in electric reclining seats.
But with the new chairs comes some bad news – the total capacity of the theater will drop by more than half, from its current 1,384 seats to 613.
All eight auditoriums will be revamped, but because the work will be done in two phases, the theater will remain open. Total project time is expected to last from Oct 2 to Dec. 22, with each phase lasting six to seven weeks. So, half the auditoriums will be worked on while the others will stay open.
The cost of the project is estimated to be $748,000.
