Fine’s Place opened today in Saltillo in the Town Creek shopping center, which is home to Bishop’s., the Wine & Liquor Gallery and K’s Tobacco and Brew.
The restaurant specializes in home-cooked meals, owners Cheyenne and Wendy Fine said.
The address for Fine’s is 2546 Highway 145 C in Saltillo. Formerly, it was Mediterranean Grill.
The restaurant is open Monday-Friday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., with a plate lunch served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., then diners can order off the menu.
On Saturdays, it’s open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and will have a morning breakfast bar from 7 to 10.
On Sundays, it will be open 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Fines said they couldn’t let the opportunity go by for them to try their hand at running a restaurant.
Wendy taught culinary arts in Marshall County for a couple of years, and running restaurants runs in the family. Cheyenne was maintenance manager for Bishops in Saltillo and is now at Ken Jeter Equipment.
The lunch menu, Wendy said, will consist of classics like hamburger steak, fried chicken, chicken and dressing and other favorites passed down from her grandmother.
“We make as much as we can from scratch,” she said, pointing to the mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese on today’s lunch bar.
Price for a meat and two vegetables is $7.99, which comes with bread and a drink. Desserts are available, too, for $1.99.
The after-lunch menu is being tweaked and expanded, but appetizers include parmesan bacon-crusted mozzarella sticks, loaded potato cakes and crispy fried pickles.
Chicken tenders, burgers and hamburger steak are on the menu, and steaks also are being added. A salad bar also is available.
Fine’s Place also has a Facebook page if you want to check it out yourself.
