City leaders, diners and employees of Cracker Barrel cut the ribbon on the opening of the restaurant this morning in New Albany
NEW ALBANY – After a soft opening on Friday, Cracker Barrel in New Albany officially opened this morning.
The 10,000-square-foot restaurant opened at 319 Coulter Cove. Store hours are Sunday through Thursday, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
It’s the company’s 644th location in 44 states, and the 14th location in Mississippi. Nearby locations in Northeast Mississippi include Tupelo and Corinth. The Corinth store opened three years ago. The Tupelo/Saltillo location opened in 1999.
The New Albany store employs about 195 people,
Dane Thomsen, who began his career at Cracker Barrel over five years ago, is general manager.
“We are excited to bring Cracker Barrel and our mission of Pleasing People to New Albany,” Thomsen said. “We can’t wait to provide the home-away-from-home experience that our guests have come to know and love from us to this great community.”
Each Cracker Barrel location is uniquely decorated with authentic artifacts, memorabilia and signage collected by a team of Americana experts. The walls of Cracker Barrel stores reflect the nation’s rich history and by tailoring elements to the local community, offer a homespun appeal for locals.
Several walls in the New Albany store are dedicated to celebrating the community, including pieces that pay homage to the log and grist mills that were once located near the site and the railroad that crosses through the center of town.
