UPDATE 7.28.14: We got a reply over the weekend from Krispy Kreme’s corporate office, and the comment was: “Unfortunately it is still too early to confirm or discuss those plans.”
A few months back, the company said it showed no plans for Tupelo. Sounds like a change in tone to me…
ORIGINAL POST BELOW:
So, Biz Buzz was checking out things around the fair city of Tupelo, and came across the site plan you see.
Notice anything interesting in the proposed site plan for a new retail center?
Look closely on the far right, at the biggest available space.
Yeah, that’s exactly what you see.
It is indeed a Krispy Kreme you see anchoring the center, which will be on West Main Street, if approved.
No official word from the Hot and Fresh doughnut folks, but we may find out more at the Tupelo Planning Committee meeting next month.
Personally, I’m a Shipley’s Donut fan, having grown up – and out – on the things. But a hot Krispy Kreme donut isn’t too bad either.
There’s no time frame just yet for the retail center, as it must still get the nod of the planning committee, and ultimately, the city’s Development Services department.
Krispy Kreme, founded in 1937 in Winston-Salem, N.C., has more than 850 locations worldwide.
