The Natchez Trace Parkway saw fewer visitors for the second consecutive month in June, parkway officials said.
In June, the Parkway saw 518,693 visitors, compared to 563,565 a year ago, a 7.9 percent decline. In May, there were 489,190 visitors, compared to 535,303 a year earlier,, an 8.6 percent drop.
Through the first half of the year, total visits are 2,901,344, a 2.6 increase compared to the same span last year, when 2,826,275 people visited the Parkway.
The numbers continue to put the Natchez Trace Parkway on track to be among the top 10 most visited National Park Service sites.
