The Color Vibe 5K is making its first appearance in Mississippi on April 5 in Tupelo.
If you’re not familiar with one of these races, you run and you get colorful. Color packets made of corn starch are thrown before, during and after the race.
Seth Gaines, the Tupelo Convention & Visitors Bureau sports marketing director, has been working for two years to get one of these “adventure” races. He said talks with The Color Vibe folks started in April.
The Tupelo race will begin in Fairpark and will run primarily through the business district, Gaines said. And there’s a chance that runners could be stopped by a train coming through, a good place where color bomb stations can be set up.
The Color Vibe races draw hundreds, sometimes thousands of participants and visitors, and Gaines hopes the Tupelo race will bring similar results.
Visit the Color Vibe website for registration information. And note the first 500 who sign up for the race get $10 off the registration fee. Use the coupon code TUPELO10.
