A lot of you have been watching the progress on Earnest B’s Barbecue in downtown Tupelo, and I’m happy to report that the restaurant is having its grand opening on Tuesday.
The restaurant, located at 206 Troy Street in downtown Tupelo, will be open Monday-Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for lunch and Thursday-Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. It will be closed on Sundays
Earnest B. Morgan and his wife, Cicely, are the owners.
And yes, they have closed their old Amory location after a great five-year run.
Earnest B. at first wanted to keep both restaurants going, but decided he would be spread a little too thin to keep it up. So, he’s all in with the Tupelo location, which is the former spot of the Rib Cage, and most recently, Romie’s Barbecue.
Earnest B’s specializes in Texas-style ribs, which means it’s a combination of the dry rub, the smoke and the special sauce, “Momma’s Sweet Heat” barbecue sauce, which was developed by his mother.
The restaurant will serve beef, pork, hicken, turkey, nachos, sides and other items you would expect.
No beer or alcohol will be served. Morgan is a pastor and said the focus of the restaurant is “family, food and fun.”
We’ll have a more extensive interview in Saturday’s Daily Journal. But we wanted to get the initial news out now to ya.
