Tupelo has one new restaurant opening, but another one’s future is unknown.
The Ole State Grill is in the former location of The Bakery, across from Woody’s and Savings Oil on North Gloster Street.
The Ole State Grill is the newest addition, and a soft opening is planned Friday.
But the one we’re wondering about is Eli’s BBQ Grill. It’s been closed for more than a week, and we don’t know why.
First, a little more on the Ole State Grill. It’s going In the former The Bakery location on North Gloster Street .
As you might have guessed, the restaurant’s name is a mashing together of Ole Miss and Mississippi State. And inside, there’s an Ole Miss Rebels/Hoddy Toddy wall and a MSU Bulldogs/Hail State wall for those of you who want to pick a side. There’s also a bar, but it will be for beer only. The permit awaits, however.
The Ole State Grill will serve All-American fare like freshly made burgers, phillies, patty melts, salads, fries, cole slaw, baked beans, desserts, etc. On Friday and Saturday nights, wood-fired steaks will be sold as well.
Entertainment is planned during the week as well, from live bands to karaoke.
Hours are Monday-Friday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday 11 to midnight.The phone number is (662) 690-1111.
The restaurant on the corner of West Main and Industrial has been closed for more than a week, but there’s no indication why.
Althouse has 15 years of restaurant industry experience, having worked previously at IHOP, D’Casa and Stafford’s Barbecue.
Some barbecue items will be added later, Althouse said. For now, the focus is on getting the restaurant open and seeing what diners like and want.
And now for the restaurant we’re not sure about: Eli’s BBQ Grill on West Main Street.
The restaurant was closed last week and hasn’t opened this week. No sign on the doors or windows, nobody’s answered the phone and theres been no word from management/owners about what’s happening.
