Murphy Express open in Tupelo, selling gas cheap

Murphy Express is open on the corner of West Main and Maynard streets in Tupelo, having had a soft opening in Friday. A grand IMG_5807opening is planned in the next week or two.

And it seems there might be a bit of a price war going on. Earlier this morning, it was selling gas at a whopping low (for Tupelo anyway) $2.58 a gallon, according to MississippiGasPrices.com.

Biz Buzz drove by moments ago, and it’s back up to $2.78. That’s a pretty wild price swing. And of course, the Dodge’s Store and J’s Store also are at $2.78. The Kroger at Crosstown – at least for now – was at $2.86.

The Murphy Express store manager said the store, open 24 hours a day, will have the lowest prices on beer, cigarettes and gas in Tupelo. Works for me.

The store employs 13 people.
