New restaurant opening soon in west Tupelo

UPDATE 9/18/13: Steele’s Dive is indeed open. I dropped by their for lunch and got a plate with chicken and dumplings, green beans and fried okra. Can’t get much more Southern than that.

Steele’s Dive is the brainchild of Jason Steele and Greg Patterson, whoe are opening their 96-seat restaurant on West Main Street in Tupelo in the former Mo’s Bar-B-Que location. For reference, if you’re headed toward Pontotoc on West Main/Highway 6, it’s on the left.

Steele calls it “upscale mom-and-pop” food.

Breakfast will be served Monday through Saturday, and dinner also will be served Thursday-Saturday. On Sundays, a lunch buffet will be served.

Plate lunches will be served during the week with homemade foods like fried chicken, meatloaf, veggies, desserts, etc. At night, steaks, catfish, ribs and barbecue will be served.

A short-order menu is also available if you’re not interested in getting served off the buffet.

Steele’s Dive also will serve beer and light wine, and behind the bar, which is in front of a massive walk-in cooler, there’s also a cappuccino machine.

Twelve TVs are placed throughout the restaurant, which also has a small stage where Steele plans to have at least one night of entertainment.

Steele’s is now taking applications at the restaurant.

Hours for the place when it officially opens is Monday-Wednesday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Thursday-Saturday from 6 a.m. until (kitchen closes at 9 p.m.). Sunday lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

    The Food Is the BOMB!!!! I would eat there everyday everything I have ordered from there has been off the chain
