Greg Roy, who resigned earlier this month as Furniture Brands International’s vice president of new product development, has joined Saltillo-based Dufresne Spencer Group.
Roy, who was president of Lane Furniture before assuming his last role with Furniture Brands, will lead DGS’s Stash division. Stash is an eclectic furniture and accessories retail format, and the company has two stores – one in Memphis and one in Oxford.
The company has plans to add five stores by mid-2014 in various markets, and Roy will oversee those expansion plans.
Jim Spencer, the CEO of DSG, said Roy “will be our champion for Stash. We’ve known him for a number of years, and we felt like he fit our culture.”
He said Roy also would play a key role in the executive management team of DSG. Roy officially starts Tuesday.
The Dufresne Spencer Group was formed last year, according to Furniture Today, and the company is the 59th largest furniture retail in the county, with about $98 million in sales.
Spencer praised Roy’s “integrity, experience and his Christian values.”
Roy spent 25 years with Lane, a division of Furniture Brands. He was president of Lane from April 2009 until August of last year, when he swapped roles with Dan Masters.
